Each of the above listed institutions is an HBCU, an Hispanic University, or a Tribal College. Various other institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, City College of New York, Columbia University, Duke University, Edinboro University, Francis Marion University, George Mason University, Georgia Institute of Technology,  Hofstra University, Johns Hopkins University, New York University,  Old Dominion University,  Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Stevens Institute of Technology, the University of Central Florida, University of Chicago, the University of Florida, the University of Idaho, the University of Illinois,  the University of Maryland at College Park, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, the University of Michigan, Virginia Tech, the University of Maryland Baltimore County, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Western Kentucky University have also had participants in the Institute.
